We are seeking 2 weekend Residential Care Workers to provide personalised weekend care support to a 16‑year‑old female who is Deaf with MSI needs and requires weekend short stay care, supported by a stable 2:1 staffing team in her own flat. The young person has alternative care during the week and attends the Deaf Academy College. This position is weekend during term time only. You will play a key role in offering meaningful respite, promoting independence and supporting her wellbeing.

You will be:

1. Building a trusting, consistent relationship
2. Communicating with the young person in spoken English and will learn BSL
3. Supporting the young person with emotional regulation and sensory needs
4. Encourage confidence and autonomy by supporting independence & daily living
5. Cooking, meal planning and shopping
6. Household routines such as tidying and laundry
7. Encouraging the development of life skills
8. Following care plans and risk assessments
9. Maintaining a calm, supportive, structured environment
10. Assisting with behaviour support and emotional wellbeing
11. Liaising with parents and professionals as required
12. Completing necessary records and reports 
13. Supporting medical and physical needs where required

This role includes supporting the young person in various activities:

1. Pottery and sewing
2. Youth club
3. Swimming and gym sessions
4. Outdoor walks and local community activities
5. Sensory‑based and creative activities

You will accompany her and provide safe, person‑centred support in line with her communication and sensory profile.

We’re seeking Residential Care Workers to join our inspiring team supporting our students (aged 9-25) to develop their independent living skills, whilst supporting their education. The role will be in either our new adult residential centre, or part of our on-site residential flats at the academy. Both are based in Exmouth, and are a couple of minutes walk from the beach.

Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different. You’ll be supporting our young people who live in our Academy Residential Home to develop their independent living skills, as well as organising social activities, for example, activities in the local community, trips to the beach, cinema or bowling, as well as trips further afield. Our students spend their day in our School or College, some also doing work placements or qualifications elsewhere, after which they return to our residential care flats. The shift pattern for this role is therefore outside of ‘school hours’.
