On 11 December College students Tom and William ventured forth onto Dartmoor with their Exeter College Outdoor Adventure class.
Tom and William are currently studying map reading on their course. Their task was to plot grid references and prepare for a walk around Postbridge. Once on the moor, Exeter College teacher Tom Howe took the cold weather as an opportunity to teach the students valuable skills such as how to keep warm, avoiding snow drifts, and how to keep the propane gas warm so it will work in cold conditions. They also learned how to match landscape features to the map.
Both students have previously white water kayaked on Dartmoor, but exploring it on foot in the snow was another valuable experience! See below for more photos of the trip.
