Occupational Therapy
At the Deaf Academy we provide occupational therapy as part of our therapies service.
The overarching role of an occupational therapist is to promote independence by supporting people to carry out everyday activities which are essential for their health and wellbeing. At the Academy this means working with our students on the following:
- Personal and Domestic Activities of Daily Living (PADL/DADL)
- Careers
- Transition/future aspirations
- Seating
- Equipment
- Ergonomics
- Supported Internships
- Independent travel
- Work experience
- PSHE
- Training
- Assessments
- Joint work with all departments in the Academy
- Sensory profiles
