Audiology

Our Educational Audiology service is provided through accontract with Babcock LDP. Our Educational Audiologist is a qualified Teacher of the Deaf with an MSc in Educational Audiology and BSL level 3. She has worked with Deaf children and their families for over 20 years and has specialised as an Educational Audiologist for nearly 15 years.

She works with our students, monitoring their ear health and levels of hearing, and carrying out test box checks of hearing aids and cochlear implant processors. The students are introduced to sounds and are supported to examine how these relate to the environment. Over time, they will gain an understanding of which sounds they can access and become familiar with in their own audiogram. This is important for our students as it gives them an understanding of their hearing levels, how their hearing loss affects them and helps them explain their level of deafness to those that can support them in future.
