Activities Week took place in July just before the end of term, and what a week it was! Here’s a round-up of what our students got up to.
Monday was a fun-filled active day at Decoy Park, a Green Flag award-winning country park and local nature reserve on the edge of Newton Abbot. All our college students had a fantastic day and got stuck in, trying their hand at paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and getting wet in the splash park. Students and staff took advantage of the good weather to walk along the woodland trail, play sports and relax with friends.
Connor said:
“I loved swimming in the lake and falling off the paddle board – definitely go again.”
On Tuesday the college group loaded the bus and cars and headed off to Crealy Park for the day – not forgetting their rain coats and umbrellas.
Teacher Jamie Swateridge said; “Although the weather was classically British, all the students had a wonderful day. It was particularly nice to see students overcome their fear of heights to independently take on the daunting waterslides and rollercoasters. Dylan gave a thumbs up to the rollercoaster, with Sam adding ‘I liked the pigs, it was a lovely day’.”
Wednesday morning was a trip to see Spiderman in the cinema as well as pizza making which the students shared for the lunch. The afternoon was spent at Clip n’ Climb where a few brave students conquered the various walls.
Rebekah said it was;
“Fantastic fun, the climbing was hard but I made it to the top”.
A special well done to Cameron who was described as a real life spiderman!
Thursday was an opportunity for students and staff to compete on various tasks on giant inflatables. This was a real workout and really tired the students out. Positive Engagement Officer Kate Whitney-Morris said students and staff had lots of ‘inflatafun’.
In the afternoon the students headed down to the bowling alley for some competitive ten-pin bowling, but fun was again the real winner. Kenny said; “Bowling was brilliant – some Spanish students helped us!”
We’re already looking forward to next year!
