On Monday 1st February Year 9 conducted an assembly to create awareness for Red Hand Day.
Red Hand Day is on 12th February and is a global campaign to stop the use of child soldiers. It is estimated there are more than 250,000 child soldiers in the world.
Hundreds and thousands of handprints have been collected from children, in more than 50 countries and handed over to politicians to show their support for stopping child soldiers.
Year 9 – Molly, Leah, Alex and Jonathan – decided to get together the students of Exeter Deaf Academy to show their support.
They have collected red hand prints from all the students, Primary to Year 11, to support this campaign and will be sending the poster to parliament to show their support for stopping children being used in this way.
Well done Year 9 for raising awareness of this worthy campaign.
