At the beginning of May we held a PSHE Day around the theme of Social Media. PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health and Economic education, which we shape around real life experiences that are relevant to our young people.

We were incredibly lucky to have visits from some social media experts: Hermon and Heroda – twin fashion and travel bloggers at ‘Being Her’ blog – came to speak with us about how social media has helped them as Deaf young adults, and their experiences with social media, both positive and negative.

Rez Woldeyesus also presented to us – Rez is the co-Director of Love Language, a company supplying #BSL interpreting, marketing, and Deaf Awareness training among other services to industry leaders such as Apple. Rez shared his own story, his life with social media, and how he has used social media to grow his business.

Our staff also ran workshops on social media and the law, money and media, and keeping safe online, and everyone came together to enjoy a lovely lunch and discuss what we’d learned so far.

Thanks to everyone involved for such a great PSHE day, and big thanks TA Amy for being our photographer for the day!
