On the morning of the 9th February a bright purple bus was discovered in the College car park. It was the NDCS (National Deaf Children’s Society) Roadshow Bus which stopped as part of its tour of the country. The bus was here to deliver workshops to students, including “Who Am I?” and “Technology”. In the latter students were able to learn about and try some of the latest technology available to deaf people. This included vibrating alarm clocks, flashing doorbells and hearing aid adapted headphones, all of which can help students to become more independent. Students were amazed at what the technology offered and enjoyed being able to test the devices for themselves. NDCS presenter, Jamie, added that the technology was able to be trialled free for a month from the NDCS.
All students enjoyed their time on the NDCS Bus and we’d like to thank NDCS for stopping and providing such great workshops.
