A big congratulations to School student Molly who has been selected as a member of the National Deaf Children’s Society’s Youth Advisory Board! Several of our students applied to join the board, and we’re extremely proud of all of them.
Molly was chosen from a group of 60 young people to sit on the board, which is made up of 16 deaf young people from across the UK. The members are aged between 13-17, have varying levels of deafness and communicate in different ways. Some use speech, some use British Sign Language (BSL) and some use a mix of both.
The board was set up in 2011 to directly shape and guide the services that NDCS delivers. It offers an exciting opportunity for young people to meet other deaf young people, learn new skills and make a difference. They receive training on lots of different things and then take part in different opportunities.
Molly is also the Chair of our Academy Student Council, so she has an exciting year ahead of her!
