A small group of College learners had an opportunity recently to attend the world famous TEDx talks which took place in Exeter. Our group included four GFE students and we all travelled up to the Northcott Theatre to see various speakers perform and talk about a variety of moving and motivating subjects. What we witnessed provided a great deal of inspiration. The event was superbly organised and well considered. We were made to feel very welcome with our reserved seating at the front of the theatre with a good view of the sign language interpreters and the famous TED ‘red spot’. The presentations were excellent; challenging, inspiring and motivating. We were thrilled to be able to talk with the one of the presenters, Alex Holmes, and one student impressed him and the rest of the audience when she spoke about experience as a Deaf person. We are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend and it has left a legacy of inspiration with our deaf learners who will hopefully become the movers and shakers of the future.
