Congratulations to Academy Learning Leader Gavin, who did his skydive to raise money for us – and raised an amazing £542.50!

On 25 July Gavin headed to Dunkeswell Airfield near Honiton bright and early, to prepare for his jump.

He would be jumping 15,000 feet – the highest possible skydive without oxygen – to raise money for the Deaf Academy.

After a safety briefing and preparation, Gavin hopped in the Beech 99 aircraft to fly up to 15,000 feet. He jumped in tandem with an instructor, and experienced a 1 minute freefall at approx 120mph before the canopy opened and he enjoyed a 5 minute float under the parachute to the ground, taking in the views of the South and North Devon coastlines, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and the Bristol Channel to South Wales

Gavin said: “It was the best experience and I loved it!”

We’re really proud of Gavin, and extremely grateful for his fundraising efforts.
