On 13th October Year 7 had the chance to get hands on with agriculture at Devon’s annual FarmWise event.
The event was held at Westpoint Arena, Exeter. Our students joined hundreds more from across Devon to learn more about where their food comes from and the importance of farming in Devon. The day was split into visiting different activity zones such as pigs, environmental and food. At each station the students were introduced to the new theme by an initial talk and then got stuck into hands on activities and workshops.
One of the students’ favourite zones was sheep as the farmers also had puppies with them which they got to stroke and hold. Then at the dairy zone Year 7 were amazed by the milking process and not only did they get to have a go at milking but they then got to churn the milk into butter too!
All the students had an amazing day and got involved in all the activities.
Watch the video below to see what Tom thought about the trip.
Tom: I like it here because you learn. Today I have learnt about bread and strawberries. I have also learnt about dogs and their puppies.
