On Friday 4th March School students, took on other schools across Devon in a Boccia tournament. Boccia is similar to Bowls and Pétanque, but was developed for players whose disability impacts their motor skills. Our team, called Exeter Eagles, played well throughout the day. Teacher, Alison, commented on how impressed she was with the Eagles’ sportsmanship and friendliness towards other contestants. Towards the end of the day the team got very excited as they found themselves in the plate finals. They gave their all, but narrowly missed out on 3rd place.
Everyone had a fantastic day out and all staff are very proud of what the team had achieved, both on and off court. The students enjoyed themselves so much that we are looking at getting our own Boccia table so they can practice for next year. We also made some great links with the tournament hosts, St Luke’s School, and they have invited us back for a range of sports tournaments in the summer.
