After great success at the National Deaf Schools Track and Field Day in summer, students have continued their success in the recent Devon Autumn Ability Games Competition in Barnstaple. Eleven students attended the Games, on Wednesday 11th November, and competed in cycling, rowing and archery. Our biggest success was in rowing where Molly won gold, and Leah silver in their age groups. Primary also did fantastically well, as their archery team placed third in their age group.
As well as competing, students also got to try some new sports including; squash, golf, tennis, wheelchair basketball and laser shooting. Commonwealth champion and Olympian, Georgina Geikie, was so impressed with Alex L.’s shooting performance that she gave him the respect medal for treating others politely and with understanding.
All students had a great day and all came away with medals.
