Sergeant Sally Kingdon and Teresa Berridge paid a special visit to Exeter Deaf Academy College students to talk about how to contact the police and hate crime. They explained you can call the police on 999 and 101 for non-emergencies, but you can also text the police on 999 and 67101 for non-emergencies. They also encouraged the students to register their mobile phone as this is required in order to use the text service.

The group also discussed hate crime including who is protected by law, what kind of things constitute as hate crime and what the police will do when a hate crime and other crimes are reported to them. All learners found the sessions very useful and are now more confident in how to use the police and keep safe.
